Softball Splits Friday Doubleheader

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – UNT softball split a Friday doubleheader at Memphis as it dropped game one 1-0 before rebounding with a 4-2 win in game two at Tigers Softball Complex.
The Mean Green (26-20, 14-6) utilized a pair of solo home runs to take game two over the Tigers (16-31, 4-16) after it suffered its first shutout of the season in game one and first loss to Memphis since March 1, 2008.
Game one starter Anneca Anderson (L, 11-6) held the Tigers to one run on three hits, one walk and one hit-by-pitch with seven strikeouts, the most against a conference opponent since she joined the Mean Green in 2025.
North Texas outhit Memphis 7-3 in game one for its first loss of the season while collecting more hits than its opponent while stranding eight runners on base, including three in scoring position.
In game two, Elizabeth Moffitt posted her second two-hit performance of the day as she opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first before a solo home run in the third to give the Mean Green a 2-0 lead.
An RBI single from Madison Conley in the fourth gave North Texas an important insurance run as Memphis answered back with a pair of runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 3-2.
Sophomore Blayze McNemar led off the sixth inning with her first career home run as the center fielder had the fly ball deflect off the base of her glove and over the wall. The home run marked the second extra-base hit of the season for McNemar and the fourth of her career.
Britney Lewinski (W, 14-9) notched her 11th complete game of the season as she gave up zero earned runs over seven innings with two strikeouts. The performance marks her second outing with zero earned runs over seven innings this season.
Due to inclement weather in the forecast, UNT will meet Memphis for the series finale at noon Sunday. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ from Tigers Softball Complex.
