Softball Set for Final Homestand

The Mean Green host Tarleton State, Wichita State in last four home games of the season
DENTON – UNT softball opens its final homestand of the season at Lovelace Stadium against Tarleton State on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before an American Conference series versus Wichita State beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
All four games will be streamed on ESPN+ while fans can purchase tickets HERE.
The Mean Green (26-21, 14-7 American) will enter the weekend in third place in the American Conference standings, sitting one game behind leaders South Florida and Wichita State who are both at 15-6 in league play.
UNT will celebrate Softball Alumni Day on Saturday at 2 p.m. before Senior Day festivities Sunday at noon. Britney Lewinski, Riley McNemar and Kayleigh Smith will be honored in a postgame ceremony on Sunday.
Junior catcher Elizabeth Moffitt collected her third weekly American Conference Honorable Mention nod of the season on Monday after she tallied multiple hits in all four games last week. Her streak of four consecutive multi-hit performances is tied for the fourth-longest active spell in Division I.
After a midweek win at Abilene Christian, UNT dropped its second American Conference road series of the season at Memphis after splitting a doubleheader Friday and suffering a 9-7 loss on Sunday.
Tarleton State (31-17, 9-3 WAC) holds a seven-game winning streak entering Wednesday which was started against the Mean Green on April 8. The Texans swept conference rivals Southern Utah and Utah Valley in consecutive weekends to rise to second in the WAC standings, one game behind CBU.
UNT holds a 3-0 home record over the Texans which includes a 4-0 victory in the last meeting at Lovelace Stadium on March 12, 2025.
Similarly, Wichita State (27-15, 15-6 American) carries an eight-game winning streak into a road game at Kansas City on Wednesday before visiting Denton for its penultimate conference series of the season. The Mean Green won its last meeting against the Shockers 8-4 at the 2025 American Conference Championship Quarterfinals in Tampa, Fla.
