Head Coach Rodney DeLong announced the hiring of Jason Gwyn as an assistant coach for UNT Softball on September 10, 2021. He is in his first season with the Mean Green.

Before joining the team, he was the head coach at Hebron High School in Carrollton from 2017-21. He also spent the 2016 season as the head coach for Little Elm High School after five seasons as an assistant at Hebron.

Prior to his time as a high school coach, Gwyn coached three squads in Austria for a season in 2008. The Austrian National team placed third out of 12 in the European Championships, the Jr. National team placed seventh and the Superfund Wanderers, a local professional team, finished third in the Euro Cup.

This is his second stint in Denton, previously serving as an assistant coach at Texas Woman's University for the 2005-06 season. He also spent two years as a graduate assistant at the University of Texas and three years as a student assistant at Texas Tech.

Gwyn graduated from Texas Tech in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science.
