DENTON – After a doubleheader sweep on Thursday, UNT softball dropped the series finale 17-7 to Florida Atlantic in five innings on Friday at Lovelace Stadium.

"We have to finish," head coach Cody White said. "We're proud of taking the conference series but we've got to finish. We won the two games yesterday with a hard-fought win in the first one and really played well in the second one but just didn't finish today."

Despite the loss, the Mean Green (22-17, 11-4) have won four of five American Conference series this season and are tied for the third best 15-game start to league play in program history. North Texas matched a two-run first inning by the Owls (26-13, 8-7) before the visitors tallied consecutive six-run innings in the second and third along with three more runs in the fourth.

Madison Conley finished 2-for-2 with a solo home run, RBI single and a walk to mark her fourth-consecutive game at Lovelace Stadium with a home run. Additionally, Conley became the fifth-fastest player to reach 13 home runs in a season in UNT history at 39 games.

Bradi Harman (L, 0-3) made her first home start in the circle for the Mean Green this season as she tossed two innings while batting fifth in the order where she recorded two hits, two RBI and one run scored.

North Texas visits Tarleton State for a midweek matchup Wednesday at 6 p.m. from Tarleton Softball Complex. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
