Maribeth Gorsuch was hired as an assistant coach for UNT softball on June 4, 2024.
Previously she served as the pitching coach at Grand Canyon University where she helped the Lopes advance to three-consecutive NCAA Regionals from 2022-24.
In her time at GCU, Gorsuch’s bullpen totaled 136 wins, 879 strikeouts and a 2.69 earned run average, which improved on the cumulative 3.77 mark that GCU posted during its Division I era from 2014-21. She coached three all-conference performers including 2024 WAC Pitcher of the Year and NFCA Third Team All-West Region selection, Hailey Hudson.
In 2024, Gorsuch helped lead GCU to the program’s first 50-win season, including 23 conference wins, to win the WAC regular-season championship and third-consecutive league championship tournament title.
The Lopes advanced to its first NCAA Regional Final against Women’s College World Series participant No. 6 UCLA in Los Angeles. En route to the final, Grand Canyon claimed victories over Mountain West champion San Diego State and No. 15 Virginia Tech.
A native of Lewisville, Texas, Gorsuch is a LSU softball alumna that pitched the first seven-inning perfect game in program history on Feb. 22, 2020. She finished her five-year career with 31 wins, 209 strikeouts and a 2.77 earned run average over 300 1/3 innings pitched.
Gorsuch was named Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 25, 2020, and was a two-time SEC Pitcher of the Week winner. She holds top-10 career marks in seven statistical categories at LSU, including fewest runs (fifth), hits (fourth) and walks allowed (sixth) with a minimum of 250 innings pitched.
Gorsuch graduated from Louisiana State University in May 2021 with a degree in sport administration. She was named to the 2021 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll and was a two-time member of the SEC Community Service Team.
A four-year letter winner at Lewisville High School, Gorsuch helped lead the Fighting Farmers to the 2013 Class 5A state championship title as a freshman and finished as runners-up in the 2015 6A state final. She was named MaxPreps High School All-American in 2015 and MaxPreps Underclassman All-American in 2013.
Her coaching journey began in 2020 when she worked as the pitching coach for the Texas Glory 16U travel ball program.
