LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - UNT junior Vicente Marzilio and graduate student Lenny Bergsson tied for 25th at 5-over par to lead the way for the Mean Green at the Little Rock Invitational to close out the fall schedule for the men's golf team on Tuesday at Chenal Country Club.
Bergsson (72-75-74) and Marzilio (75-70-76) led the way for the Mean Green, who finished in 11th place at 34-over par in their final tournament of the fall slate.
"In golf you call your own penalty and accept your mistakes;Â we had a player sign an incorrect score card that he caught and DQ himself," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "It's a difficult lesson but you have to be proud of a player turning himself in that was very costly for him and the team."
UNT will resume action on Feb. 5-6 at The Hayt in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida - the first of three tournaments the team will play in February.
"I think we learned a lot this fall, and know we have a lot to work on to get where we want to be at the end of the season," Stracke said. "We have been working hard and you could see some things improve, but we also saw some things that need more attention. We are all looking forward to putting in some good hard work this offseason and getting prepared for a strong spring."
