QUOTING THE MEAN GREEN
"It's a good weekend anytime you go 4-0," head coach Rodney Delong said. "No matter who you play, division one softball is tough. We faced some adversity this weekend and came back from behind in a couple of games. We still have a couple of things to iron out with our pitching this weekend but we hit the ball well. I'm proud of our kids."
"It felt really good this weekend," junior left-hander Ashley Peters sadi. "I think us scoring in the first inning really gives us a lot of impact going into the rest of the game. I think we strung hits together really well this weekend. It made me a lot more confident in the circle and I knew my team had my back the whole game."

Game 1 - UNT 6, Nevada 5
Â
In the first game of the day, North Texas jumped out to take the lead in the second inning behind a solo home run by Molly Rainey. Mikayla Smith would extend the lead on a wild pitch that brought her home in the same inning for a 2-0 lead.
Â
After Kalei Christensen's RBI made it 3-1 in the third, Nevada scored four unanswered runs and took a 5-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning. Christensen again came up with a run-scoring knock as she doubled home Cierra Simon. Later that inning, Molly Rainey was able to get Lexi Cobb home from third on a sac fly to tie the game at 5-5.
Â
In dramatic fashion, Tayla Evans pinch hit in the bottom of the sixth and connected on a go-head solo shot that put UNT in from 6-5. Peters shut the door with her first save of the season and gave UNT the win.
Â
Janie Worthington (1.2 IP, 1 H, 3 K)Â picked up her second win of the season and Peters (1.0 IP, 1 K, 0 H) finished the game.
Â
Simon (two runs) and Christensen both had two hits to lead the Mean Green.
Â
Game 2 - UNT 3, ACU 1
Peters tossed a gem in the final game of the tournament helping UNT to a 3-1 victory over ACU. The junior (4-1) picked up her third win of the weekend in a complete-game effort. She finished with a career high seven strikeouts, no walks and only one unearned run allowed on five hits.
Â
UNT, who had only two hits in the game, took the lead in the first when Kailey Gamble doubled home Cierra Simon. The Mean Green added another in the third on Tayla Evans' second home run of the day, this one a two-run bomb that also scored Christensen and extended the advantage to 3-0.
