DENTON, Texas – UNT fell 9-3 Friday evening to Louisiana Tech in game two at Lovelace Stadium. The Mean Green homered twice in the fifth inning but came up short in the end.

"Our level of effort wasn't very good. We were flat for whatever reason and that was disappointing. We didn't play well but the concerning thing to me was how flat we were. We addressed it and I expect our energy level to be a lot better tomorrow."

RECAP:
After Louisiana Tech (28-16, 8-6) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the Mean Green scored on an error to tie the game in the bottom of the first.

The Lady Techsters immediately responded with a three-run second inning that started on a RBI double to plate one and make it 2-1. Four batters later, the Lady Techsters added two more runs on an error to extend the lead to 4-1.

The Mean Green (25-9, 13-4) remained scoreless through the third and fourth inning before Louisiana Tech extended the lead to 7-1 in the top of the fifth inning.

In the bottom of the fifth, Cierra Simon led off with her third home run of the season to cut the deficit to 7-2. Three batters later Kailey Gamble added the second home run of the inning to make it 7-3.

Louisiana Tech added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning to bring the final score to 9-3.

Ashley Peters (L, 13-5) pitched 6.1 innings before Saleen Donohoe recorded the final two outs in her first pitching appearance of the season.

Gamble and Simon both homered for the Mean Green.

Lauren Menzina (4-5) recorded the win for Louisiana Tech and pitched 5.0 innings before Emma Hutchinson came in to pitch last two innings.

Lindsay Edwards led the Lady Techsters and finished 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs and one RBI.

Game three of the series will be played Saturday at 1 PM CT at Lovelace Stadium as the Mean Green will try to clinch their sixth league series of the season. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
