The North Texas men's golf team gets back to competition on Friday with a return trip to The Tucker on the campus of the University of New Mexico.Â

THE EVENT: The UNM Championship Course will play at 7,546 yards, and will be a par-72 course for the tournament. The two-day event begins Friday with 36 holes and will conclude on Saturday with the final 18, with 8:30 a.m., shotgun starts on both days.Â

THE FIELD:Â There are 19 teams participating in the tournament, as well as individuals from Texas: BYU, Colorado, Denver, Hawai'i, Loyola Marymount, Nebraska, New Mexico, New Mexico State, North Texas, Northern Illinois, San Francisco, San Diego, San Diego State, TCU, UNLV, Utah Tech, UTEP, UTSA and Wyoming.

REPRESENTING UNT:Â Competing for the Mean Green will be Vicente Marzilio, Tucker Allen, Cody Winkler, Lenny Bergsson and Philippe Thorin, who will be making his collegiate debut.

MEAN GREEN DEBUTS: Last week in Louisiana, junior transfer Cody Winkler and freshman Simon Roessler (Santiago, Chile) made their Mean Green debuts. This week, that distinction goes to freshman Philippe Thorin, who hails from Quito, Ecuador.
STRACKEÂ SAYS:Â "New Mexico always has a solid field and the golf course presents a great test," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "I know this team ready to compete."

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR: The Mean Green feature eight international players this year. Lenny Bergsson (Iceland), Nikhil Gopal (South Africa), Zak Karkaletsos (Spain), Vicente Marzilio (Argentina), Diego Prone (Argentina), Simon Roessler (Chile), Alvaro Roldos (Spain) and Philippe Thorin (Ecuador) round out the international players.

UP NEXT:Â Fans will have their one chance this season to see the Mean Green compete locally, as North Texas will play in the Trinity Forest Invitational on Oct. 2-4 in Dallas.
HOME SWEET HOME: The Mean Green golf programs are thrilled to break in their brand new Bruzzy's UNT Golf Practice Facility, the new $3 million on-campus facility that features state-of-the-art technology, such as TrackMan, swing catalysts, indoor hitting bays, a short-game area and a PuttView indoor putting green.
