Men's Golf Wrapping Up Fall Slate in Bahamas

The Mean Green will finish up their fall schedule by heading to the Caribbean before taking nearly four months off from competition before the spring schedule ramps up in February.
THE EVENT: Ocean Club Golf Club will play at 7,159 yards, and will be a par-72 course for the tournament. The three-day event begins Friday and runs through Sunday with shotgun starts on each of the three days. On Friday, UNT will be paired with head coach Luke Calcatera's former team North Alabama and Jacksonville State.

THE FIELD:Â There are nine teams participating in the tournament: Georgia State, Jacksonville State, North Alabama, Santa Clara, Southern Illinois, St. Mary's, UNT, Wichita State and Wofford.

REPRESENTING UNT:Â Competing for the Mean Green will be Diego Prone, Tucker Allen, Cody Winkler, Alvaro Roldos and Key Coker, who will be making his Mean Green debut after transferring from DBU.

CALCATERA SAYS:Â "We're excited for another great opportunity," head coach Luke Calcatera said. "To be able to play in such a scenic location like Nassau, Bahamas, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our guys. They have worked really hard to prepare for this week and we can't wait to get started."

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR: The Mean Green feature seven international players this year. Rafael Estrada (Mexico), Nikhil Gopal (South Africa), Harry Lord (England), Diego Prone (Argentina), Simon Roessler (Chile), Alvaro Roldos (Spain) and Philippe Thorin (Ecuador) round out the international players. Meanwhile, four players (Tucker Allen, Preston Holmes, Key Coker and Cody Winkler) are native Texans.

UP NEXT:Â UNT will get back to competition to open the spring schedule at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas, on Feb. 19-20.
HOME SWEET HOME: The Mean Green golf programs are thrilled to have the Bruzzy's UNT Golf Practice Facility, which is a $3 million on-campus facility that features state-of-the-art technology, such as TrackMan, swing catalysts, indoor hitting bays, a short-game area and a PuttView indoor putting green.
