Mean Green welcome NAIA foe to open the Jason Burton era

DENTON, TEXAS – The UNT Women's Basketball team is set to begin a new era Monday night as it tips off the 2023-24 season against UNT Dallas inside The Super Pit.
The Mean Green will open their first season as a member of the American Athletic Conference and Jason Burton's tenure as head coach. Burton, the winningest coach in program history at Texas A&M-Commerce, is the ninth head women's basketball coach in UNT history.
North Texas will be led this season by senior Tommisha Lampkin who is the leading returner in scoring and rebounds with 9.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game a season ago. Lampkin will be joined by eight other returners from last year's team and four newcomers, including two WBCA DII All-America transfers from Texas A&M-Commerce in Dyani Robinson and DesiRay Kernal.

- UNT Dallas competes in the NAIA as a part of the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC).
- The Trailblazers have already played one game this season, dropping its lone contest to Tarleton State 94-53 in an exhibition on Oct. 30.
- UNT Dallas finished last season 11-13 overall and 9-13 in conference play.
- The Trailblazers are led by ZyUnn Cormier who averaged 19.6 points per game last season. The senior guard scored 22 points in 26 minutes in the exhibition against Tarleton State.
