Men's Golf Ready For The Prestige

The UNT men's golf team heads across the country a week after competing in two tournaments in Florida and is gearing up to face a loaded field at The Prestige.

THE EVENT: The Greg Norman Course at PGA West will play at 7,100 yards, and will be a par-71 course for the tournament. The three-day event begins Monday and runs through Wednesday with tee times each day.

THE FIELD: There are 17 teams participating in the tournament, including seven top-50 teams and two in the top-10: No. 21 Baylor, Cal-Poly, Charlotte, Creighton, No. 33 Liberty, Loyola Marymount, No. 28 LSU, Nebraska, No. 35 Northwestern, Princeton, San Diego, San Francisco, No. 6 Stanford, No. 42 TCU, No. 3 Texas Tech, UC-Davis and UNT.

REPRESENTING UNT: Competing for the Mean Green will be Vicente Marzilio, Tucker Allen, Diego Prone, Lenny Bergsson and Alvaro Roldos, who made his Mean Green debut last week. Philippe Thorin will compete in the separate Prestige Individual Tournament at The Golf Club at Terra Lago in Indio, California.

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR: The Mean Green feature eight international players this year. Lenny Bergsson (Iceland), Nikhil Gopal (South Africa), Zak Karkaletsos (Spain), Vicente Marzilio (Argentina), Diego Prone (Argentina), Simon Roessler (Chile), Alvaro Roldos (Spain) and Philippe Thorin (Ecuador) round out the international players.

UP NEXT: North Texas will return to competition on March 20-21, at the All-American Intercollegiate in Houston.

HOME SWEET HOME: The Mean Green golf programs are thrilled to have the new Bruzzy's UNT Golf Practice Facility, which is a $3 million on-campus facility that features state-of-the-art technology, such as TrackMan, swing catalysts, indoor hitting bays, a short-game area and a PuttView indoor putting green.
