Men's Golf Wraps Up Play At The Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. - The UNT men's golf team wrapped up play on Wednesday at The Prestige, featuring a loaded field of 24 teams, including 11 teams ranked in the top 50 nationally, at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West.
The Mean Green ended the first day of competition in a tie for 18th place with No. 28 LSU at 13-over par, led by juniors Diego Prone and Vicente Marzilio, who shot 1-over 72 and 2-over 73, respectively. In Wednesday's final round, after dropping a spot on the leaderboard in Round 2, the Mean Green were led by junior Tucker Allen, who shot a 1-under 70 to tie Prone for 32nd at 7-over for the event to finish tied for 18th with No. 47 Kansas. They were three shots back of No. 28 LSU. Allen went 3-under on the back-nine with three birdies and no bogeys to finish the event on a high note.
"We had our opportunities to beat some highly ranked teams today," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "Some people might say the conditions were unplayable with gusts around 40 mph but Tucker Allen had an incredible round of 70 today."
In The Prestige Individual Invitational at The Golf Club at Terra Lago in Indio, California, Philippe Thorin opened with a 4-over 76 before shooting a 79 and 80 to tie for 39th at 19-over par.
