UNT Men In California For Final Tuneup For Conference

The UNT men's golf team heads west for its final regular-season tournament and its final tuneup for the Conference USA Championship.

THE EVENT: El Macero Country Club will play at 7,127 yards, and will be a par-72 course for the tournament. The three-day event begins Friday and runs through Sunday with tee times each day beginning at 10:15 a.m., and running through 12:30 p.m., from Holes 1 and 10 each day.

THE FIELD: There are 20 teams participating in the tournament, including two top-50 teams and a couple of more just outside the top 50: Cal, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Denver, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Idaho, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Pacific, Sacramento State, No. 47 San Diego, No. 45 San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle, UCLA, UC Davis, UC San Diego, UNT and Washington State.

REPRESENTING UNT: Competing for the Mean Green will be Vicente Marzilio, Tucker Allen, Diego Prone, Cody Winkler and Alvaro Roldos.

RESULTS: Live results will be posted on Golfstat.com. Full recaps from each day of competition will be posted on MeanGreenSports.com at the end of each round.

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR: The Mean Green feature eight international players this year. Lenny Bergsson (Iceland), Nikhil Gopal (South Africa), Zak Karkaletsos (Spain), Vicente Marzilio (Argentina), Diego Prone (Argentina), Simon Roessler (Chile), Alvaro Roldos (Spain) and Philippe Thorin (Ecuador) round out the international players.

UP NEXT: UNT will head to Texarkana for the Conference USA Championship, which will run from April 24-28.

HOME SWEET HOME: The Mean Green golf programs are thrilled to have the new Bruzzy's UNT Golf Practice Facility, which is a $3 million on-campus facility that features state-of-the-art technology, such as TrackMan, swing catalysts, indoor hitting bays, a short-game area and a PuttView indoor putting green.
