Men's Golf Tied For Third After Round 1 at C-USA

TEXARKANA, Ark. - The UNT men's golf team opened play on Monday at the Conference USA Championship at Texarkana Country Club and are tied for third heading into Tuesday's second round at 8-over par after an opening-round 296.
The Mean Green, which entered the event as the third-highest ranked team, are tied with Louisiana Tech, three shots back of Middle Tennessee and four back of the opening-round leader UAB.
The top four teams after Wednesday's final round of stroke play will advance to the match play portion of the tournament set for Thursday, when semifinals will take place in the morning before the championship match Thursday afternoon. UNT and La Tech are two shots up on Charlotte and UTSA, who are tied for fifth at 10-over.
The Mean Green were led by junior Vicente Marzilio, who shot a 1-under 71 and is tied for second on the individual leaderboard - two shots off the lead. Junior Tucker Allen shot a 2-over 74 and is tied for 10th, and junior Diego Prone shot a 3-over 75 and is tied for 18th.
