
Tennis Heads to Houston for Inaugural AAC Fall Championship

Mean Green sending two singles players and one doubles team looking to clinch spot in ITA Masters
HOUSTON – The UNT tennis team continues its fall season with a new tournament this weekend as they travel to Houston to compete in the Inaugural AAC Fall Championship at George R. Brown Tennis Complex.
The American Individual Championships will be conducted for the first time in 2024 as the conference determines men's and women's champions in singles and doubles. The singles and doubles champions will represent the American Athletic Conference at the ITA Conference Masters Championships Nov. 7-10 in Rome, Georgia.
Two singles players and one doubles tandem from each of the American Athletic Conference's 13 women's teams will compete for the individual titles.
The Mean Green will be sending Lou Chalard and Stanislava Shulzhenko to compete in the singles matches while the combination of Lilly Schultz and Stadfany Nformi will play in the doubles bracket.
First-round play in singles and doubles begins Thursday, Oct. 24, while the round of 16 in singles concludes Thursday afternoon. The quarterfinals in singles and doubles will be played Friday, Oct. 25, followed by Saturday's semifinals and Sunday's championship finals.
In singles, both Shulzhenko and Chalard starts their competition Thursday at 10:00 AM against while Shulzhenko taking on Melissa Senli of South Florida and Chalard facing off against East Carolina's Ines Bachir.
In doubles play, meanwhile, Schultz and Nformi open things up at 9:00 AM on Thursday with a matchup against Bachir and Xenia Jeromin of East Carolina.
Consolation brackets in men's and women's singles will also be played, allowing each student-athlete the opportunity to play at least two matches.
