
Softball Drops First AAC Contest

SAN ANTONIO – UNT softball dropped its first American Athletic Conference game of the season 4-2 against UTSA on Sunday at Roadrunner Field.
North Texas (15-12, 5-1) snapped its six-game winning streak after falling to the Roadrunners (9-21, 1-5) for the first time since April 8, 2022. The teams endured a trio of weather delays that collectively lasted over three and a half hours.
Senior Kailey Gamble hit her second home run of the weekend with a two-run shot in the first inning to mark the 39th of her UNT career. The Mean Green have scored in the first inning eight times this season and held a 6-1 record in such games entering Sunday.
Starting pitcher Mackenzie Childers (ND) tallied four strikeouts over 4.0 innings pitched. She gave up two runs on four hits and three walks, including a third inning two-run home run to tie the game.
Kat Ibarra extended her season best four-game hitting streak with a 2-for-3 performance and one run scored.
