
Wagoner Spins Complete-Game Shutout at Memphis

The Mean Green tally its 11th shutout of the season, sixth in AAC play
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – McKenzie Wagoner recorded her fourth complete-game shutout of the season as UNT softball defeated Memphis 2-0 on Friday night at Tiger Softball Complex.
North Texas (26-19, 13-6) tallied its 11th shutout of the season and is now tied for No. 16 in the nation. Wagoner (W, 11-5) held the Tigers (5-35, 1-18) to two hits over seven innings of work with four strikeouts and zero walks.
Wagoner faced 22 batters on Friday, one above the minimum, as the Mean Green defense provided stellar support including its 22nd double play of the season. Entering the series, UNT ranked top 25 in Division I at 0.48 double plays per game and led the American Athletic Conference.
Both of North Texas' runs came on sacrifice flies with Rylee Nicholson collecting the RBI in the second inning and Elizabeth Moffitt posting the other in the fourth frame.
Molly Rainey finished 2-for-3 including her first triple of the season with one run scored and one stolen base. She posted her fifth multi-hit game of the season and No. 23 of her career.
Kailey Gamble scored the first run of the game after she started a string of three consecutive singles to open the second. She sits at 89 career runs scored, four shy of breaking into the top 10 in UNT history.
