DENTON, Texas – The UNT men's golf team will return to action in a familiar setting Sunday through Tuesday at the Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas.
The Mean Green have participated in the tournament in each of the last seven seasons the event has taken place dating back to 2017. UNT has collected six top-10 team finishes during that time, including last season's seventh-place finish.
Sophomores Alex Huang and Blake Keen will get a second crack at the course after leading North Texas at the tournament in 2024. Huang put together the best tournament of his career, recording his lowest 18-hole and 54-hole scores of the season in a second-place finish at 12-under par. Keen placed 31st at 2-under par after carding a 70 in the final two rounds.
Huang and Keen will be joined by freshman Mitchell Maier and UCA transfers Kalle Svederman and Noah Blaickner. Maier has had one of the best starts to a collegiate career in recent program history, placing inside the top 20 in both of his starts.
Rayhan Latief will play as an individual in his second career appearance. The freshman from Indonesia placed 69th with rounds of 73-73-74 in his debut at the William H. Tucker Invitational.
North Texas will compete in a field of 15 teams, including American Conference foes Rice and UTSA, and SMU, who was ranked No. 15 in Golfweek's preseason poll. The teams will play 18 holes each day with tee times starting at 9 a.m. CT in the first two rounds and 8:30 a.m. in Tuesday's final round. Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament on Clippd.
