Women’s Basketball Travels to SMU for First Road Game of the Season
11/21/2025 11:46:00 AM | Women's Basketball
DENTON, Texas – UNT women's basketball will take on SMU for the 56th time in series history Saturday night in Dallas at Moody Coliseum.
The Mean Green will be looking to get back into the win column after an uncharacteristic shooting performance resulted in their first loss of the season to Abilene Christian on Wednesday. While a strong defensive effort kept North Texas in the game, 26 turnovers and only one made 3-pointer was too big of a hole to climb out of in the 60-51 loss.
Now, the Mean Green hit the road for the first time this season, making the short trip to Dallas for the first of a stretch of four games that includes three matchups with Power Four programs.
SMU has dropped three straight since winning its season opener against Grambling State, 96-70. The Mustangs are returning home to Moody Coliseum where they hold a 22-6 lead over UNT. However, North Texas won the most recent matchup in Dallas during the 2023-24 season behind double doubles from DesiRay Kernal and Tommisha Lampkin. The win snapped an 18-game losing streak at Moody Coliseum for UNT and set up this year's squad to make it consecutive wins there for the first time since 1978-79.
Saturday's contest will tip-off at 6 p.m. CT on ACCNX and can be heard on the Varsity Network app with Sam Kaman on the call.

• The Mean Green are a perfect 27-0 when scoring 70+ points at The Super Pit under Burton.
• The only losses came on Feb. 4, 2024 when UNT fell at Tulsa, 79-74, and in an 88- 86 overtime loss to Troy to end the Mean Green's run in the 2025 WNIT.
