DENTON, Texas – The UNT women's basketball team will look to start 2-0 for the third straight season when it hosts Grambling State Friday night at 6 p.m. CT in The Super Pit.
The Mean Green started the 2025-26 campaign with an impressive showing against Oklahoma Christian on Monday night. Six newcomers scored in double figures, led by Tiffany Hammond's 22 points. UNT's 106-36 victory marked the fifth-highest scoring game and the third-largest margin of victory in program history.
Hammond added five assists to her career-best offensive night, which included six made 3-pointers on seven attempts. Forward Tionna Lidge also set a career high with 16 points in her first game at North Texas.
Grambling will enter Friday's contest following a 96-70 loss to SMU on Tuesday. The Mean Green and Lady Tigers have only met once before, which was an 83-60 win for UNT in 2023.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Owen Simpson and Brian Burton on the call. It can also be heard on the Varsity Network App with Sam Kaman.
