Mean Green match third best 30-game start in program history
DENTON, Texas – After a two-run triple, Emma Grahmann scored the game-winning run as UNT softball collected an 11-3 walk-off win in five innings over Memphis at Lovelace Stadium Friday night.
"The win feels really good," Grahmann said. "The whole team played amazing today and, earlier in the week, we talked about putting the team first for the rest of the season. So, I knew the team had my back and it helped me to relax and get the job done."
Grahmann enjoyed the first multi-hit game of her career, including her first triple in four seasons with the Mean Green, and set a new season-high mark of two RBI. She finished 2-for-2 and set up a three-run fourth inning with a sacrifice bunt to advance two runners into scoring position.
The Mean Green (20-10, 3-4) tallied its third consecutive series opening win against American Athletic Conference opponents while recording its seventh straight victory over the Tigers (14-16, 3-4), dating back to Feb. 9, 2013.
Riley McNemar posted her second walk-off hit of the season as she plated Grahmann with an RBI single that she flared into left field. McNemar matched her career high of two hits as she registered two RBI and one run scored.
For the third time in her UNT career, Rylee Nicholson tied the program record with three stolen bases and finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. She leads The American in stolen bases and became the 10th player in program history with over 30 swipes in her career.
Skylar Savage (W, 9-5) spun a complete-game victory with four strikeouts over five innings pitched. She allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks.
Tatum Sparks opened the scoring with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning, the first North Texas player to do so since Lexi Cobb (2021-24) on Feb. 10, 2023. Sparks finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI for her 12th multi-hit game of the season.
