Mean Green Open Play at Maridoe Intercollegiate

CARROLLTON, Texas - The UNT men's golf team opened play on Monday at the Maridoe Intercollegiate at its home course of Maridoe Golf Club and will enter Tuesday's final round in the middle of the pack.

The Mean Green sit in eighth place at 24-over par after shooting a 297-303 on the 36-hole opening day and just three shots back of seventh-place Baylor and six back of sixth-place ULM.

UNT was led on the day by freshman Blake Keen, who shot a 75-71 and is tied for 12th at 2-over after two rounds, while senior James Tureskis shot a 73-77 and followed Keen with a score of 6-over to put him in a tie for 34th.

Rafael Estrada, who is competing an individual, shot a 77-69 to tie Keen for 12th on the individual leaderboard.

The Mean Green will be paired on Tuesday with Baylor and Sam Houston, as the teams will have a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
