Men’s Golf Wraps Up Play at All-American Intercollegiate

HUMBLE, Texas – The UNT men's golf team posted its best round of the week on Tuesday to finish tied for sixth at the All-American Intercollegiate.

Despite facing difficult conditions most of the tournament, UNT improved its team score each round and ultimately settled at 50-over alongside Rice and Nebraska. It finished just one stroke back of Houston for a spot in the top five and has now placed sixth-or-better four times this season after doing so just twice all last year.

Fourth-ranked Arkansas ran away with the team title, beating runner-up Eastern Michigan by a dozen shots.

For the fourth time this season, Mitchell Maier was the top Mean Green performer thanks to an 11-over week that put him in a tie for 19th. Maier enjoyed a steady final round of 74, which led to the sixth top-25 finish of his freshman campaign. Just behind Maier was Rayhan Latief, another freshman who has been playing well as of late. After a 13-over showing, Latief has now placed top 25 in all four tournaments this spring.

Just as the team did, Alex Huang improved his score every round en route to a 14-over, T30 performance. Huang also sank seven more birdies on the week, increasing his team-leading total to 93 and inching closer to back-to-back 100-birdie seasons.

Joe Stover and Blake Keen rounded out the group in a tie for 43rd at 17-over. Despite the finish, Keen takes some momentum into his next appearance after carding the lowest by round a Mean Green player all week on Tuesday (73).

In the individual competition, Rafael Estrada completed the best tournament of his career with a ninth-place finish, blowing away his previous best of 25th at last year's Aggie Invitational.

North Texas now returns to its home turf to host the Maridoe Collegiate at Maridoe Golf Club on March 30-31. It placed seventh there last season but won the team championship back in 2024.
