DENTON, Texas – The UNT men's golf team closes the regular season this week at the Mossy Oak Collegiate in West Point, Miss. Competing at Mossy Oak Golf Club, the competitive 19-team field will play 36 holes Monday before a closing 18 the following morning.
North Texas is coming off an impressive showing at the Maridoe Collegiate, where it went toe-to-toe with some of the country's highest ranked teams before ultimately taking fourth place at 33-over. That total put UNT two strokes back of Baylor for third but beat a pair of ranked SEC opponents in Oklahoma and Alabama. It also finished 22 strokes ahead of Mississippi State, the host of this week's event.
The Mean Green have now placed top four in four different tournaments this season, a substantial improvement from the 2024-25 campaign when they did so twice. Three of those instances have come this spring, including back-to-back runner-up placements in February.
Once again comprised of several underclassmen, the North Texas lineup this week is Alex Huang, Blake Keen, Mitchell Maier, Kalle Svederman and Rafael Estrada.
Huang was the top Mean Green performer last time out with an 11th-place showing, while Keen and Svederman were just behind in a tie for 15th. Rounding out the lineup is Estrada, who played well as an individual at the Maridoe Collegiate and now makes his first start of the season.
In its final test before postseason play, UNT faces a challenging field that features three teams ranked in Scoreboard's top 25 and six power conference opponents. Altogether, the tournament field includes No. 10 Vanderbilt, No. 15 Ole Miss, No. 17 Alabama, Mississippi State, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Rice, Memphis, UTEP, Southern Miss, ULM, New Mexico State, Louisiana Tech, Troy, Sam Houston, Middle Tennessee, South Alabama and Coastal Carolina.
The Mossy Oak Collegiate is scheduled to begin Monday with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. CT. Live results can be followed here.
