UNT has a 13-6 record against Southern Miss all-time. The Mean Green have a four-game win streak against the Golden Eagles after sweeping them in April last year at Lovelace Stadium.
The Mean Green haven't played in Hattiesburg, Mississippi since the 2018 season. In the conference series, North Texas won 2-of-3 games that year against the Golden Eagles. The Mean Green snapped a seven-game losing streak by winning game two in decisive fashion 8-1. UNT closed the series with a 2-0 victory led by junior 1B Sam Rea, who hit the team's program record 53rd home run of the season.
