The North Texas men's golf team gets back to competition with a return trip to the Louisiana Classics.Â

THE EVENT: Oakbourne Country Club will play at 6,898 yards, and will be a par-72 course for the tournament. The two-day event begins Monday and will conclude on Tuesday, with a shotgun start on Monday at 8 a.m., and tee times on Tuesday starting at 7:30 a.m. There will be 36 holes of competition on Monday and the final round on Tuesday.Â

THE FIELD:Â There are 16 teams participating in the tournament: Louisiana, Houston, Illinois State, Kansas State, Lipscomb, No. 41 Little Rock, No. 25 LSU, Louisiana Tech, Michigan, No. 17 Ole Miss, Mississippi State, North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston, No. 21 Texas A&M and UTSA.

REPRESENTING UNT: Competing for the Mean Green will be Vicente Marzilio, Viktor Forslund, Lenny Bergsson, Nikhil Gopal and Diego Prone.
ON THE TUBE: The final round can be seen live on ESPN+, starting at 9:15 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT: North Texas finished 14th at the Coral Creek Club Invitational two weeks ago, when the Mean Green were led by Marzilio, who finished tied for third to earn Conference USA Golfer of the Week honors.

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR: The Mean Green feature six international players this year. Lenny Bergsson (Iceland), Viktor Forslund (Sweden), Nikhil Gopal (South Africa), Zak Karkaletsos (Spain), Diego Prone (Argentina) and Vicente Marzilio (Argentina) round out the international players.

STRACKEÂ SAYS:Â "Oakbourne is an interesting, old-school golf course that is similar to Texarkana, where we play the conference championship," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "We have some new blood in the lineup this week, and I'm excited to watch these guys compete."
ASSISTANT ON TOP: Zachary Wright, the Mean Green assistant coach, won this event in 2013 as a member of the team at LSU, who is in the field this week. Wright is one of the most decorated golfers in LSU program history and helped the Tigers to a national championship.

UP NEXT: North Texas will head to the All-American Intercollegiate in Houston on March 21-22.
NEW FACILITY: The Mean Green golf programs are thrilled to break in their brand new Bruzzy's UNT Golf Practice Facility, the new $3 million on-campus facility that features state-of-the-art technology, such as TrackMan, swing catalysts, indoor hitting bays, a short-game area and a PuttView indoor putting green.
