Wagoner Wows as Softball Wins

EL PASO, Texas – McKenzie Wagoner hit her first career home run and threw a complete game as UNT softball won 6-4 over UTEP at Helen of Troy Field on Friday. She became the first UNT player to record multiple hits and a win from the circle since Jenna Goodrich on March 30, 2019.
Wagoner collected an RBI double in the second and three-run home run in the fourth. She finished 2-for-3 with four RBI from the leadoff spot in the order. In the circle, Wagoner (W, 9-4) recorded her eighth complete game with five strikeouts. She allowed two earned runs on five hits and zero walks.
North Texas (23-16, 8-6) finished the game with a 3-for-5 mark with runners in scoring position to clinch the conference series. UTEP (10-21, 2-9) were held scoreless until a seventh-inning rally brought home four runs and ended with the tying run at the plate.
Tatum Sparks tallied her third multi-hit game as she was 2-for-3 with career-best marks with two runs, two RBI and one stolen base.
Lexi Cobb set the table for Sparks' two-run single in the second inning with a double to left field which advanced Cierra Simon after a bunt single.
