
Softball Falls at No. 17 Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – UNT softball fell 12-0 in five innings at No. 17 Texas A&M on Wednesday at Davis Diamond.
North Texas (9-11) stranded five base runners in the contest and recorded its sixth shutout loss of the season.
Cierra Simon led off the game with a bunt single but was unable to score. The Aggies (20-2) posted eight runs, including two home runs, in the home half of the first and ended the night for UNT starter McKenzie Wagoner (L, 5-3) after two outs.
Kailey Gamble led off the second inning with a first pitch double off the center field wall. She is tied for the team lead with four doubles for the season and sits one shy of matching the ninth most in program history.
After A&M posted another run in the second, senior Lexi Cobb bounced a ground rule double over the outfield wall. The extra-base hit marked the 28th double of her career.
Simon reached on a second bunt single in the fifth inning after the Aggies tallied three runs total in the home half of the third and fourth innings. Despite a pair of hard-hit balls to third, UNT were unable to bring a run home in the fifth.
