STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mean Green softball dropped two games on the second day of The Snowman: Alex Wilcox Memorial tournament with a 3-1 loss to No. 19 Mississippi State before a 6-1 defeat against Murray State on Saturday at Nusz Park.
UNT (2-7) played the hosting Bulldogs (9-0) closely in game one with a two-run loss but suffered its third loss of five-plus runs this season versus the Racers (4-5).
Both North Texas starting pitchers recorded a complete game as Anneca Anderson (L, 1-1) spun six innings in game one while Britney Lewinski (L, 1-3) posted seven innings. Anderson tossed 120 pitches and is the first UNT pitcher with an outing above 120 since Skylar Savage (2022-25) threw 128 versus Memphis on March 23, 2025, while Lewinski matched her season-best output of six strikeouts.
Against Mississippi State, the Mean Green opened the scoring after sophomore Taylor Platt opened the frame with a lobbed single into left field and came home to score as freshman Lianna Hull collected her first career RBI.
The Bulldogs responded with runs in the home half of the third, fourth and sixth innings as Anderson held the hosts to three runs and stranded nine runners on base.
In the nightcap, North Texas again jumped out to an early lead as Bradi Harman scored from first base when Ariah Mitchell drove an RBI triple into the right field corner in the top of the first inning.
Murray State leveled the score in the top of the second before Harman tallied her second single for her first multi-hit effort of the season in the third. Later in the frame, she advanced to second on an obstruction call with one out before the next 14 UNT batters were retired in succession.
The Mean Green are scheduled to face No. 19 Mississippi State at 12:30 p.m. Sunday on SEC Network+ to close the weekend.
