COLLEGE STATION, Texas – UNT softball plays its first true road game against No. 17 Texas A&M at Davis Diamond on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The game can be followed at meangreenstats.com.
"It's another tough game," head coach Rodney DeLong said. "I think [Texas] A&M has one of the lower [earned run averages] in the country and their ace is really good. They are athletic and it will be a challenge."
The Mean Green (9-10) enter the midweek contest after collecting its second win over a Power Five opponent with a 7-0 shutout victory against RV Northwestern on Saturday. Senior McKenzie Wagoner tallied her second complete-game shutout of the season over the Wildcats at the Jane B. Moore Memorial in Auburn.
DeLong will lead UNT in its seventh all-time meeting against the Aggies (19-2) and first since he collected a 10-2 upset victory in five innings over then-No. 20 Texas A&M on Feb. 9, 2019. North Texas trails the series 1-5 with each meeting set in College Station.
Texas A&M marks the sixth opponent of the season that earned a bid to the 2023 NCAA Tournament and third SEC foe after the Mean Green faced Missouri and Auburn earlier this year.
